Hi! This is Kate F. and I traveled to Colombia for a week. I am going to tell you all about my adventures there.

First I went to the Salar De Uyuni, which is the world's largest salt flat, with 10,583 square kilometers. It is in southwest Bolivia near the crest of the Andes mountains. It is covered by a few meters of slat crust and serves of a source of salt which is exceptionally rich in lithium. this site contains 50 to 70% of the worlds reserves of lithium. I had fun walking across it. you could see everything within miles around you.

Next I went Amboró National Park. there they have ocelots, pumas,  and rare spectacled bears. There is also a lot of waterfalls, trees, and monkeys. I had a great time hiking on paths with my family. there are about 3,000 plant species, and there are some really tall trees.

The last place I went was Tiwanaku, an ancient city state. it is archaeological site. archaeologists recognize it as one of the most important civilizations prior to the Inca Empire. Tiwanaku isn't even the real name of the city state, because the name it was known by its civilians, but the real name is lost. There are carved heads in the walls and the doorways are really small because the people who lives there were very short. I took a picture with the "Gate of the Sun".

I had a really awesome time in Bolivia! If you ever go to South America, this is the place to go!                                                                    -Kate F.
